Getting started with Doorstep
From nothing to your first approved cold emails in about ten minutes. You'll need Docker and an active Claude Pro or Max subscription.
1. Install in one command
Install Docker Desktop if you don't have it, then run:
curl -fsSL https://getdoorstep.vercel.app/install.sh | sh
The installer downloads Doorstep, starts it, and opens the setup wizard in your browser. Re-run the same command any time to update — your data is kept.
2. Connect your Claude
Drafting runs on your own Claude subscription, so the wizard asks for a token. In a terminal run claude setup-token, approve in the browser, and paste the token (it starts sk-ant-oat01-). The connect screen gives you a command that copies the token to your clipboard automatically — use it, because that long string is easy to mis-copy by hand.
3. Fill your business profile
Tell Doorstep who you are and how you sound. The chat interview writes the whole profile for you from a few plain-language answers — this is what your Claude uses to draft.
4. Add a sending inbox
Pick your email provider and paste your address plus an app password. Doorstep tests the connection before it lets you send. Use a separate domain from your main email and set up SPF/DKIM/DMARC first — see the deliverability guide.
5. Find leads and send
On the dashboard, describe who you're targeting or pick a category and neighbourhood, and find 20–30 leads. Hit Prepare outreach, review the drafts your Claude wrote, approve a few, and they'll send inside your window under warm-up limits. Details in finding leads.
